Ok, I would like to talk about how to lose weight and stay healthy. No bullshit, no miracle exercises, pills, or diets. About two years ago, I was 5'7" and about 190 lbs. That was not healthy. Often times, I would have ice cream for breakfast, or eat several donuts in the course of a few hours. It also didn't help that I drank at least 3-4 cans of coke a day.
Nowadays, I'm 5'10" and about 140 lbs. That's right, I lost almost 50 lbs.! Well, now I'm going to share with you how I did this. My big secretive secret is...you ready for this? It's a healthy diet and good exercise habits.
Back when I was fat and unhealthy, i felt horrible about myself. I wanted to lose weight so I could fit in at school and such, but due to a strenuous family life, I couldn't break away from my unhealthy addiction to food. I also had a hard time exercising without the knowledge or equipment needed. My turning point came one summer when I was at Boy Scout camp. During the week I had been away, I didn't drink but 1-2 cans of soda and had a steady, healthy diet. When I arrived back home I noticed that I had lost weight. I realized that maybe it wasn't impossible for me to be healthy.
the first thing I did was to start watching what I ate. I quit drinking soda cold turkey and tried not to eat foods that I deemed unhealthy. Eventually, I looked up how to tell if food was bad for you on the internet. That was when I really started making progress. Via the knowledge I gained from doing nothing more than browsing websites, I formulated a list of things I had to do if I wanted to be a healthy person. First off, I had to start exercising. I got myself some weights and started doing some basic weightlifting. After a while, I was eating very healthily and exercising for about 45 minutes a day(the recommended amount. It was about then that the fat just stared melting away, and the rest is history.
For those of you who would like to lose weight and become healthy people, I have some tips.
Starting out:
1- Quit unhealthy habits cold turkey. This means smoking, drinking, eating unhealthy foods, guilty pleasures, etc. This is by far the hardest part. I realize that some of you out there will not be able to quit some things, but I'll leave it up to you.
2-Reform your eating habits. This really isn't too hard to do. I'm not asking you to eat tofu or anything. My favorite method is "king in the morning, peasant in the evening". What this means is to eat the most fats and sugars for breakfast and the least of them for dinner.
a)Try eating no more than ten minutes after you wake up in the morning. This doesn't have to be a full breakfast, just some food to kick start your metabolism and keep it going.
b)Eat a piece of fruit immediately before bed. This will keep your metabolism up through the night, when your body really needs it. This will also burn fat.
c)STAY AWAY FROM TRANS FATS! I can't stress this enough, trans fats are the worst garbage you can put in your body other than, well, garbage. Anything that has "partially/fully hydrogenated oil" of any kind has trans fat. Most margarine has this, so you will want to steer clear of that and use real butter.
d)Use your own discretion. You know what foods are bad for you! Try to eat as little of them as possible. You can still have cake, ice cream, churros, whatever once or twice a week, just not all the time.
e)Calories! This is fun. not!The average male should eat about 2900 calories a day, while the average female should eat about 2000. This is due to a difference in body structure and muscle density.
3-Exercise, exercise, exercise. This one is pretty self explanatory. The average person should get around 30-45 minutes of STRENUOUS exercise throughout each day. That doesn't mean walking or shopping. It means dedicated exercise for the purpose of exercise. I recommend weight lifting as it is a great workout, and you get muscles. Also, every pound of muscle on the body burns an average of 20 calories a da
